North of Duvall Street
I've been quite M.I.A. lately. Started a small project on the side that focuses on hand-crafting product versus working on 2D graphics all the time.
My friend, Jimin, holds a monthly marketplace for designers to sell their goods- ETC. Market in NW Portland. I sold my first run of leather goods under the moniker "North of Duvall Street" (named after the street I grew up on as a kid).
More images to follow, but here's my current identity.
Was a pretty successful event. Got a lot of good feedback, and looking to get into some local stores.

Print/Pattern... It's happening!
Fashion Week has passed and I know I work in the sportswear/athletic industry, but the trends are unavoidable. Look to print and pattern being used heavily, but purposefully. We're not talking loud paisley or tie-dye either..

Banig (ba-neeg)
A banig is a Filipino woven rug. I've been digging a little into my past (future project, more to come) growing up as a young Filipino boy in East LA. We always had a set of these to lay out on the floor for various purposes. I really liked running my fingers along the colored wicker, examining more with my hands than with my eyes.

I'm desperately trying to avoid shoes for a quick minute to regain creative consciousness.
I like this packaging.. Clean and thoughtful. But what I really wanna do is try some of that crazy mad scientist cooking! Molecular gastronomy looks insane..

Holy Cow, I'm So Exhausted
The end. I have no more energy, though it was great connecting with the media and really getting a chance to tell the story of our work. I like seeing people excited about product. Gives me more drive to keep doing what I'm doing.

Sunny LA
I'm sitting in my hotel room near LA Live as I write this post. I was asked to come down to LA to run some people through the LA neighborhoods collection.. But I just realized this whole ordeal is a bit bigger than I was told. "Eeeek!" and "woooo!" at the same time. As a proud Nike Designer, I'm glad to have the opportunity to present our work in the way it was meant to be shown.

On the subject of leaks.
Not too fond of leaked images, because they never do the product any justice...
I guess since they've leaked already, here are some of the shoes coming out in the near future. Some real LA love went into this pack.. I hope my brethren enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoyed designing.

Taking a bit of a break from the site due to a little vacation time in Los Angeles to spend time with friends and family for the holidays. I sit in a Starbucks across the street from my mom's place (I loathe Starbucks, but they have free Wi-Fi) wondering why I ever wanted to stay in LA. Portland has been a pleasant surprise and I can truly say it's helped shape me as a designer. Nothing like a new environment, new people and new experiences to cleanse my life's palette.
